mon anniversaire...

Donc...c'est mon anniversaire! Pour cette raison, j'ai decide qu'il faut ecrire ici, sur mon blog...(je ne connais pas le vocabulaire francais du blogosphere...).

Yes so...23. First of all, that is a weird age. I mean who is 23? Well a lot of my friends, but other than that, what do you hear about 23 year olds? What are they up to? Where are they hiding?

I think I am supposed to feel more mature? Hmmm, or maybe more honestly I feel like this is the beginning of the stage where birthdays are days to smile and have fun but the meaning of an exact age has faded away.

I am about to run off to a soccer game. I ain't playing as I sprained my ankle (boo) but wanted to support mon equipe for the last game of the season. And I also feel like I should sit in the sun on my birthday.

Shame I can't play as the team will be down to 7...and yes, we do play in a 11 person per team league! At first we all got depressed when we had no subs, especially if we were going to play on turf in 90 degree heat (black rubber, great for absorbing heat and sending it up your legs via your black cleats, ugh). Now I would be thrilled to have 10 or 11 people playing. We played the last game with 7 -- managed to keep it to 1-0 against us for the first half. It ended up as 3-0 our loss but I was pretty impressed. They had four more people on the field than us -- and three subs on the sideline.

Anyway, I had a point-- yes, so it is funny how your mind adapts and alters your expectations! Now I think playing with 7-8 players is normal and having a full team an absolute luxury. And subs -- what on earth would they do??

I guess I am just amazed at how we react to our environment, to how we gather all the information from our surroundings and form a view of the world...something I notice when I move too. The way your mind swivels, things gradually click into place, you pick up another lens, your mind considers it...

Well I must run. This is a very inconsequential post. I'll call it birthday privilege.

I am seeing Bamako (http://www.bamako-film.com/index.php?en) tonight. Reviews seem mixed: some a bit negative (http://blogcritics.org/archives/2007/06/06/193122.php) , some seem more impressed (http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/bamako/).

Actually I might see it another time...and see Once tonight. Hmm.
